Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION TO THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION FOR TRIBAL TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM BRIDGE FUNDING

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

                     

WHEREAS, The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) provides funding to repair or replace bridges on the Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory; and

 

WHEREAS, Title 23 United States Code, as amended by the IIJA, specifies the eligibility requirements for Tribal Transportation Program Bridge funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the following bridges are located on Cherokee Nation’s Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory; they are a part the National Bridge Inventory, and are hereby identified as a candidates for replacement:

                     Bridge No.                     62,                      White Creek, Craig County

                     Bridge No.                     61A,                      Unnamed Creek, Craig County

                     Bridge No.                     30,                      Unnamed Creek, Delaware County

                     Bridge No.                     35,                     Tributary to Whitewater Creek, Delaware County

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Federal Highway Administration is encouraged to pursue all matters necessary to secure engineering and construction funding for said bridges, hereafter deemed as priorities for the Tribal Transportation Facility Bridge Program.
