Title

A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF JANICE PURCELL AS A COMMISSIONER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION GAMING COMMISSION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission was established and codified under Title 4 of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated;

 

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized to select the members of the Commission subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;

 

WHEREAS, Seat Three (3) of the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission is vacant;

 

WHEREAS, Janice Purcell is duly qualified to fill this vacancy.

 

                      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Janice Purcell is hereby confirmed appointed as a Commissioner of the Cherokee Nation Gaming Commission, Seat Three (3), for a term of three (3) years as authorized by Section 21, Chapter 2, Title 4 of the Cherokee Nation Code Annotated, from August 2017 to August 2020.
