A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS (BIA) TO REVISE AND UPDATE THE CHEROKEE NATION’S INVENTORY OF TRIBAL TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, Title 23 United States Code provides for tribal determination of its own needs and priorities for the allocation of Tribal Transportation Program funding (formerly Indian Reservation Roads);
WHEREAS, the implementing regulations promulgated in 25 CFR Part 170 provides for the documentation of Tribal Transportation Facilities through a long-range transportation plan;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has conducted extensive research to document its transportation needs and in doing so has adopted a long-range transportation plan of Tribal Transportation Program Facilities.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that this resolution hereby affirms the adopted long-range transportation plan and authorizes the BIA to update the Nation’s Inventory of Tribal Transportation Facilities to include the following roads:
