A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING COMPLIANCE WITH 24 CFR § 1003.604 CITIZEN PARTICIPATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is desirous of participation in the Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) program through submission of an application for Fiscal Year 2021;

WHEREAS, HUD has set out requirements for citizen participation as a prerequisite to application;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is continuously seeking and responding to citizen questions and comments through ongoing processes of the Tribe in order to better serve its citizenry;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has met the specific requirements of HUD as set out through public hearings, response to comments, and requests made by respondents;

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby certifies that it has met the requirement of HUD set out in 24 CFR 1003.604 Citizen Participation for the ICDBG grant application to be submitted for Fiscal Year 2021.
