A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING COMPLIANCE WITH 24 CFR CH. IX (4-1-03 EDITION 1003.604 CITIZEN PARTICIPATION)

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS the Cherokee Nation is desirous of participation in the ICDBG grant program through submission of an application for Housing Rehabilitation for fiscal year 2014;
WHEREAS, HUD has set out requirements for citizen participation as a prerequisite to application;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is continuously seeking and responding to citizen questions and comments through ongoing processes of the tribe in order to better serve its citizenry;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has met the specific requirements of HUD as set out through advertisement, toll free response numbers, public hearing, response to comments and requests made by respondents;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby certifies that it has met the requirement of HUD set out in 24 CFR Ch. IX (4-1-03 Edition 1003.604 Citizen participation) for the ICDBG grant application to be submitted on or by July 29, 2014.
