A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFETIME OF ACHIEVEMENT OF LUCILLE MARIE WADLEY, A CHEROKEE OF GREAT DISTINCTION
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America,
 
WHEREAS, Lucille Marie Wadley, born in Indian Territory, dedicated her life to the benefit of Indian people and preservation of their culture; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Wadley served faithfully with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for forty-two (42) years, was Executive Secretary of the Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes for nineteen (19) years and Executive Secretary of the Cherokee Nation for more than twenty (20) years; and
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Wadley was co-founder of the Five Civilized Tribes Museum and recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Oklahoma Heritage Association for Preservation of State and local history, along with other numerous awards and citations of merit.
 
WHEREAS, few Cherokees have dedicated more effort for the betterment of Indian people.
 
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cherokee Nation through its Tribal Council that Mrs. Lucille Marie Wadley, be honored as a Cherokee Citizen of great distinction for her lifetime of achievement.
