A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF RANDY DUNCAN AS A GOVERNING BOARD MEMBER OF TSUNADELOQUASDI CHEROKEE IMMERSION SCHOOL BOARD
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Tsunadeloquasdi Cherokee Immersion School received charter status in 2011, pursuant to the Oklahoma Charter Schools Act, 70 O.S. §3-130, et seq; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is the sponsor of the Tsunadeloquasdi Cherokee Immersion School; and,
WHEREAS, the Tsunadeloquasdi Cherokee Immersion School Board is the governing body of the school and whose members are appointed by the Principal Chief and confirmed by the Tribal Council for an undefined term, pursuant to Part X(B) of the contract entered into by the Cherokee Nation and the school; and,
WHEREAS, Randy Duncan, a Cherokee Nation citizen, is duly qualified and should be appointed as Board Member of the Tsunadeloquasdi Cherokee Immersion School Board.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Randy Duncan is hereby confirmed as a Governing Board Member of the Tsunadeloquasdi Cherokee Immersion School Board, for a term of five (5) years beginning May 2025 and ending May 31, 2030.
