A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF DR. EMMA BETH HARP AS A MEMBER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has exclusive tribal jurisdiction over the Cherokee Nation Reservation, the geographic scope of which is defined in federal and Cherokee Nation law.
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Institutional Review Board was reorganized and authorized by legislative act 36-24, “Cherokee Nation Institutional Review Board Reform of 2024”; and,
WHEREAS, the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation is authorized by Section 5, § 3 (C) of LA-36-24 to appoint members of the board, subject to confirmation by the Council of the Cherokee Nation; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Ashley Comiford is duly qualified and has been selected by the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation to be appointed to serve as a member of the Cherokee Nation Institutional Review Board.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Dr. Ashley Confirmed is hereby confirmed as a member of the Cherokee Nation Institutional Review Board for a term of one year from December 2024 to December 2025.
