A RESOLUTION TO DIRECT CHEROKEE NATION BUSINESSES TO CONDUCT A FEASIBILITY STUDY REGARDING THE USE OF THE SALLISAW CREEK PARK IN SEQUOYAH COUNTY
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
 
WHEREAS, it is beneficial for the Cherokee Nation to advance the quality of  life of its citizens and for all peoples of Oklahoma by looking at the potential use of all property owned by the Cherokee Nation; and,
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation owns approximately 1,100 acres at the Sallisaw Creek Park in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, and a feasibility study conducted by Cherokee Nation Business for possible uses of this property for gaming, industry or as a waterway port is essential for the Council in determining the best possible use of this land.
      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council requests that Cherokee Nation Business conducts a feasibility study to determine possible uses in the areas of gaming, industry or as a waterway port and once the study is completed, the study is to be delivered to the Council.
