A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF CURTIS KEITH AUSTIN AS AN EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBER OF THE CHEROKEE PHOENIX

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Free and Independent Press for the Cherokee Nation, Editorial Board was created and authorized by Legislative Act 11-00;

WHEREAS, Curtis Keith Austin is nominated by the Tribal Council to serve a six-year term as an Editorial Board Member of the Cherokee Phoenix from April, 2013 through April,  2019, as authorized by Legislative Act 11-00; and

WHEREAS, Curtis Keith Austin is duly qualified to fill this vacancy pursuant to the laws of the Cherokee Nation.

      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Curtis Keith Austin is hereby confirmed as a Board Member of the Editorial Board of the Cherokee Phoenix for a six-year term effective April, 2013 through April, 2019 as authorized by Legislative Act 11-00, the Act of July 17, 2000.
