A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEVELOPMENT AND SUBMISSION OF A THREE-YEAR PLAN FOR PL 102-477 PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has elected to combine the Workforce Investment Act programs with the Childcare and Development programs into a single plan under PL 102-477;

WHEREAS, the current PL 102-477 plan expires September 30, 2013;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation wishes to continue to provide employment and training related services in a coordinated manner.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Self-Governance Office is hereby authorized to develop and submit a three-year plan for PL 102-477 program activities; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Principal Chief, Bill John Baker, and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said application on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
