A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF AMBER LYNN GEORGE AS A BOARD MEMBER OF THE CHEROKEE NATION FOUNDATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Foundation was formed as a nonprofit corporation for the promotion of education to citizens of the Cherokee Nation, to provide educational assistance to citizens of the Cherokee Nation and to promote and preserve the language, culture and history of the Nation;

 

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief is authorized by the Bylaws of the Cherokee Nation Foundation to select the members of the Board of Directors subject to majority vote of the Council of the Cherokee Nation;

 

WHEREAS, Amber Lynn George is duly qualified to fill this position pursuant to the Bylaws, Article II, Section 2.3, of the Cherokee Nation Foundation and is hereby nominated for reappointment; and,

 

        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that Amber Lynn George is hereby confirmed as a member of the Board of Directors for the Cherokee Nation Foundation for a term of 4 (four) years beginning October 30, 2021 until October 30, 2025.
