A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CHEROKEE NATION MARSHAL SERVICE BADGE AND CREDENTIAL RETIREMENT PROGRAM

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service (CNMS) is the law enforcement agency of the with jurisdiction throughout the Cherokee Nation Reservation;

WHEREAS, CNMS seeks to recognize retiring Marshals for their service to the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, retiring Marshals shall be eligible to receive both a retirement badge and credentials; and

WHEREAS, CNMS policy will be established to provide clear requirements for attaining the badge and credentials upon retirement; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council of the Cherokee Nation hereby supports the establishment of the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service badge and credential retirement program.
