A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE ADMINISTRATION ON AGING TITLE VI GRANT, PART A AND PART C

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Family Assistance Department has received the Administration on Aging Title VI Grant for Nutrition Services to Indian Elders (part A) and the Title VI Caregivers Grant (part C)

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Family Assistance Department Senior Nutrition Program would like to apply for the next 3 year grant funding cycle (April 1, 2014-March 31, 2017) to continue to provide Title VI Senior Nutrition Services to the 14 Senior Nutrition Programs located in the Cherokee Nation jurisdiction, and to apply for the Part C Family Caregiver grant included in the Administration on Aging Title VI Grant to Indian Elders.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Principal Chief or his designee hereby authorizes the submission of the Grant Proposal to the Administration on Aging for Title VI Part A and Part C grant for Nutrition Services and Family Caregiver services to Indian Elders for Fiscal Years beginning April, 1 2014- March 31, 2017.
