ACT RELATING TO THE NAMING OF THE CHEROKEE NATION OUTPATIENT HEALTH CENTER AS NVWOTII (ᏅᏬᏘᎢ) THE MEDICINE PLACE

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION:
Section 1. Title and Codification
This act shall be known as “The NVWOTII (ᏅᏬᏘᎢ) Naming Act of 2021.”
Section 2. Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to provide a name designation for the Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Center located on the W.W. Hastings campus in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The building should be known in the Cherokee language as the “Medicine Place” This building should henceforth be known legally and informally as “NVWOTII (ᏅᏬᏘᎢ)”

Section 5. Substantive Provisions
1. The Buidling and Facility Naming Act of 2011, Title 61 C.N.C.A. § 1, et seq., requires that the names of Cheorkee Naiton buildings may only be designated or redesignated by Act of the Council of Cherokee Nation.
2. To date this 469,000-square-foot, four-story facility is the largest Indian Health Service joint venture health facility in the United States.
Section 6. Provisions as cumulative
The provisions of this act shall be cumulative to existing law.
Section 7. Severability
The provisions of this act are severable and if any part of provision hereof shall be held void the decision of the court so holding shall not affect or impair any of the remaining parts or provisions of this act.
Section 8. Effective Date
The provisions of this act shall become effective thirty (30) days from and after the date of its passage and approval.
Section 9. Self-Help Contributions
To the extent that this Act involves programs or services to citizens of the Nation or others, self-help contributions shall be required, unless specifically prohibited by the funding agency, or a waiver is granted due to physical or mental incapacity of the participant to contribute.
