HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION FOR TRIBAL TRANSPORTATION
PROGRAM BRIDGE FUNDING
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) provides funding to repair or replace bridges on the Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory; and
WHEREAS, Title 23 United States Code, as amended by the IIJA, specifies the eligibility requirements for Tribal Transportation Program Bridge funding; and
WHEREAS, the following bridges are located on Cherokee Nation’s Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory; they are either a part of or eligible for the National Bridge Inventory, and are herein identified as a candidates for replacement or new construction:
• Bridge No. 79, Little Skin Bayou, Sequoyah County
• Bridge No. 179, Manard Bayou, Cherokee County
• Bridge No. 146, Saunders Creek, Washington County
• Bridge No. 81, Pryor Creek, Craig County
• New Bridge, Tributary to 14-Mile Creek, Cherokee County
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Federal Highway Administration is hereby authorized to pursue all matters necessary to fund the replacement or new construction of these bridges, hereinafter deemed as priorities for the Tribal Transportation Facility Bridge Program.
