Title

A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE NOMINATION OF TINA GLORY JORDAN TO THE SUPREME COURT OF THE CHEROKEE NATION

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

WHEREAS, Justices of the Supreme Court are authorized in Article VIII Section 1 of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, according to Article VIII Section 2 of the Constitution, the Justices shall be appointed by the Principal Chief and confirmed by the Council of the Cherokee Nation;

WHEREAS, the Principal Chief has appointed Tina Glory Jordan as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Cherokee Nation, Seat 2, to fulfill the duties of Justice as articulated in Article VIII of the Constitution;

WHEREAS, Tina Glory Jordan is duly qualified.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION that Tina Glory Jordan is hereby confirmed as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Cherokee Nation, Seat 2, to fulfill the duties of Justice as specified in Article VIII of the Constitution of the Cherokee Nation for a term beginning August 2023 to December 2032.
