Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, a goal of the Cherokee Nation Human Services is to provide prevention, diversion and emergency shelter services to promote the health and well being of children, youth and families;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation Human Services is applying for funding in the amount of $83,333.00 to supplement the emergency shelter operations and supportive services of the John A. Ketcher Youth Services Center;
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Council hereby authorizes an application for funding to the U.S. Family and Youth Services Bureau, Basic Center Runaway and Homeless Youth Program for Youth Shelter services, and that Principal Chief, Bill John Baker and/or his designee be authorized to sign documents necessary to submit said contract on behalf of the Cherokee Nation.
