A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS (BIA) TO REVISE AND UPDATE THE CHEROKEE NATION'S INVENTORY OF INDIAN RESERVATION ROADS
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
      
WHEREAS, Title 23 United States Code provides for tribal determination of its own needs and priorities for the allocation of Federal Highway Indian Reservation Road (IRR) funding;
 
WHEREAS, the implementing regulations promulgated in 25 CFR Part 170 provides for the documentation of Indian Reservation Roads and other eligible facilities through a long-range transportation plan;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has conducted extensive research to document its transportation needs and in doing so has adopted a long-range transportation plan of Indian Reservation Roads and other eligible facilities.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that this resolution hereby affirms the adopted long-range transportation plan and authorizes the BIA to update the Nation's IRR inventory to include the following:
