A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A REQUEST  FROM CHEROKEE NATION EDUCATION SERVICES TO THE BUREAU OF INDIAN EDUCATION TO PARTICIPATE IN A JOINT VENTURE FOR STAFFING, OPERATIONAL, RENOVATION, AND CONSTRUCTION FUNDING FOR SEQUOYAH HIGH SCHOOL AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL EXPANSIONS BY PARTICIPATING IN JOINT VENTURE PROGRAMS

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation has determined that a need exists for increases in staffing, operational, renovation and construction for Sequoyah High School and other educational service expansions; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation wishes to seek the staffing, operational, renovation and construction funding for the expansions of Sequoyah High School and other educational services by participating in a joint venture with the Bureau of Indian Education.

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Tribal Council hereby authorizes Cherokee Nation Education Services to submit a request to participate in a joint venture with the Bureau of Indian Education for additional staffing, operational, renovation, and construction funding for Sequoyah High School and other educational service expansions.
