Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION TO THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION FOR TRIBAL TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM BRIDGE FUNDING

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government on behalf of the Cherokee people; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and

                     

WHEREAS, The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) provides funding to repair or replace bridges on the Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory; and

 

WHEREAS, Title 23 United States Code, as amended by the IIJA, specifies the eligibility requirements for Tribal Transportation Program Bridge funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the following bridges are located on Cherokee Nation’s Tribal Transportation Facility Inventory and the National Bridge Inventory; they are structurally deficient, and are herein identified as a candidate for replacement:

                     Bridge No.                     72,                      Coal Creek, Ottawa County

                     Bridge No.                     119,                      North Fork Creek (aka Double Creek), Washington County

                     Bridge No.                     67,                      Baron Fork Creek, Adair County

                     Bridge No.                     67,                      Pecan Creek, Cherokee County

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that the Federal Highway Administration is hereby authorized to pursue all matters necessary to fund the replacement of these bridges, hereinafter deemed a priority for the Tribal Transportation Facility Bridge Program.
