A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEVELOPMENT AND SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR FOR SERVING YOUNG ADULT EX-OFFENDERS THROUGH TRAINING AND SERVICE-LEARNING GRANT
Body
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;
 
WHEREAS, the Department of Labor has funds available for programs to serve young adults offenders ages 18 through 21 who have been involved in the juvenile justice system; and
 
WHEREAS, Career Services has the experience and expertise to administer such a program; and
 
WHEREAS, many individuals requesting employment and training services through Career Services are ex-offenders in need of assistance.
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that a grant application to the Department of Labor for serving young adult ex-offenders through training and service-learning be developed and submitted.
