A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION IN SUPPORT OF THE CREATION OF NATIVE CENTER FOR HEALTH RESEARCH (NARCH-8)

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America; and,
 
WHEREAS, Cherokees suffer disproportionally for  from Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Obesity and Osteoarthris which are the leading causes of premature death and disability within the Cherokee Nation; and,
 
WHEREAS, evidence-based strategies exist to mitigate risk factors for these conditions; and, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION, that a collaborative effort to pursue a grant application in support of creation of Native Center for Health research (NARCH-8) is to be completed and submitted for funding to develop and build capacity to implement interventions consistent with, active living, healthy eating, high quality clinical and other preventive services.
