Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REVISION OF ONE COUNCIL STANDING COMMITTEE AND THE CREATION OF A NEW STANDING COMMITTEE

Body

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation since time immemorial has exercised the sovereign rights of self-government in behalf of the Cherokee people;

 

WHEREAS, the Cherokee Nation is a federally recognized Indian Nation with a historic and continual government to government relationship with the United States of America;

 

WHEREAS, recognizing, honoring, understanding, enhancing, and continuing tribal culture for the future and for all our current Cherokee Nation citizens as well as future generations is an important task for the Cherokee Nation Council; and,

 

WHEREAS, to enhance and continue Cherokee Culture, the current Education and Culture Committee should be changed to be just the Education Committee and a new committee titled Culture Committee should be created; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Council of the Cherokee Nation wants to change the Education and Culture Committee to Education Committee and establish a new committee titled Culture Committee; and, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CHEROKEE NATION that the Council of the Cherokee Nation hereby changes the Education and Culture Committee specifically to an Education Committee and a new Committee is hereby created titled Culture Committee.
